The number of individuals with Alzheimer’s dementia is expected to reach 13.8 million by the year 2060. After decades of managing Alzheimer’s disease with symptom-targeted therapies, disease-targeted therapeutic options are emerging and disrupting the clinical pathways for treating the disease. While the new agents may represent scientific advancements, the value of these treatments will also require novel managed care approaches to incorporate the patient perspective in the formulary decision-making process, measure the impact of outcomes, and align strategies to ensure safe and appropriate use in patients.

This session will focus on Alzheimer’s disease treatment advances, current factors impacting population management, and methods for integrating the patient perspective into managed care decision-making for these novel therapies.

  1. Review the current guidelines and clinical evidence for new and emerging disease-modifying treatments for Alzheimer’s disease.
