Dr. Saira Jan is a clinical professor at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and holds the title of Director, Enterprise Pharmacy at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. Over her career, Dr. Jan has had over 25 years of experience in academia, research and healthcare management.

Within academia, Saira is the Director of the Managed Care Residency program, a preceptor for Rutgers students in the managed care rotation, and a founder and faculty advisor of the AMCP (Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy) organization at Rutgers. She is also involved in outcome-based research projects with Harvard and numerous other national academic institutions. She has advised national and international organizations as well as developed and implemented collaborative models with various organizations. Many pharmaceutical companies have also asked Dr. Jan to provide insight into their research due to her expertise. This has resulted in extensive publications and conference speaking engagements for Dr. Jan.

Within Horizon, Dr. Jan is responsible for managing pharmaceutical and medical integration initiatives for Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid lines of business. She has extensive experience in a multitude of areas including but not limited to; strategy, quality measures, drug reviews, drug policy development, formulary management, utilization management, contracting, specialty management, and pharmacy benefit management. Dr. Jan works closely with Horizon’s business units, clinical quality and medical management areas to deliver integrated services.

Saira works extensively with the National Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, CMS and the FDA on various programs and initiatives. She also works closely with both domestic and foreign leaders of health care to incorporate high standards for their clinical programs.

Dr. Jan leads the "Roy Bowers" Conference each year to bring academia, healthcare providers and pharmaceutical manufacturers together to develop multifaceted solutions to complex healthcare issues. Dr. Jan has a Masters in Pharmacology from St John’s University and a doctorate in Pharmacy from the Rutgers State University of New Jersey.
