Mark Scarupa, MD is board certified in allergy and immunology. He is a partner and the Director of the Center for Urticaria and Angioedema at the Institute for Asthma and Allergy and is on the clinical faculty of the Johns Hopkins Asthma and Allergy Center. His primary academic interest is in urticaria and angioedema. He has been involved in multiple clinical trials as a principal investigator or sub-investigator evaluating novel therapeutics for hereditary angioedema and chronic urticaria. He also has been involved in numerous asthma biologic clinical trials. Dr. Scarupa participated in the the 4th, 5th, and 6th International Consensus Meeting Guidelines for the Treatment and Evaluation of Urticaria in Berlin, Germany, in 2012, 2016 and 2020. He has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Doctor Scarupa grew up in Columbia, MD and attended college and medical school in the Twin Cities. He returned east to do his residency at the Washington Hospital Center and allergy and immunology training at Johns Hopkins University Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
